iotum Relevance Engine™
iotum’s “Relevance Engine” is an intelligent network-hosted software platform for interactive communications. Using knowledge it gathers of users current circumstance and situation, relationships, and examples of prior behaviors, the Relevance Engine advises applications and network elements on how to treat communications requests addressed to users of the iotum service.
The Relevance Engine draws relationship information from anywhere a user might keep it – a corporate directory, a personal address book, an instant messaging buddy list, or a social networking site, for instance. Situation information is derived from instant messaging presence, calendar, time of day, location, and other sources of situational information. Users will be able to have multiple overlapping sources of situation information feed into iotum as well, according to the various roles they play in their lives. For instance, a user may use AOL at home, while using Microsoft Communicator in the office. Historical behaviour may be discerned from call logs available from switching equipment, from handsets, and other sources. From this information, the Relevance Engine infers expected user behaviour.
